Political Biography

Shifuzzaman Shikhor indulged himself in politics as soon as he became enlightened about the world around him. His love of politics and patriotism goes all the way back to his school days. He immediately connected himself politically with the Chhatra League after enrolling in college.  As a result, he was elected to the student parliament as the sports secretary. Later, while pursuing Honors and Masters in History at Rajshahi University, he served as the Sher- E- Bangla Hall organizing secretary of the Chhatra League and worked directly on the ground in the movement to topple the then autocratic Ershad government. He was appointed as general secretary of the Chhatra League at Rajshahi University after the Awami League won the 1996 elections with the goal of guaranteeing the right to vote and food. Later, he traveled to Dhaka and joined the Chhatra League Central Committee.  Later, in 1997 he joined the Central Committee of Chhatra League and in 1998 conference, he devoted himself to organizing Chhatra League well and protecting the country from the plots of anti-independence by taking responsibility as co-officer/editor of Chhatra League. Later he served as Acting General Secretary of Chhatra League for 7 months.

He started working for the honorable prime Minister Sheikh Hasina as a member of Special-8 in 2004. On behalf of Special-8, he organized a movement against the then-corrupt interim administration and the anti-independence BNP-Jamaat. Saifuzzaman Shikhor worked as the assistant private secretary to the honorable prime minister Sheikh Hasina till his voluntary retirement in 2018, which occurred later in 2009, when the Awami League government was elected with a record amount of popular support.

 In the 2018 elections, Shifuzzaman Shikhor was a candidate from the Magura-1 district and won with overwhelming support from the public.
